From its inception We’re All God’s Children has been involved with serving those less fortunate in Africa. Beginning with a trip to Kenya in 2006 with six volunteers to several more visits including Zambia, we have introduced many team members over the years to the beauty of this continent and its people.
Our tasks in Africa have been diversified depending on the needs of the people and the talents of our volunteers. From the bustling city of Nairobi to the beautiful tea country village of Gatamayu, and on to the remote village of Siavonga on the Zambezi River we have spread the love of Christ through our words and actions.
God’s blessings have been evident in so many ways as we have ministered in His name. We have been privileged to share our material blessings with those in need and in return have received far more than we ever expected. We have watched our volunteers grow in faith as their entire world view changed. And we have learned so much from these gracious, beautiful people who depend on God for all of their daily needs.
Some of our volunteers are skilled professionals and tradespeople; others like our retirees bring a varied life experience. Some bring the willingness to do whatever is needed, while others bring the stamina and excitement of youth.
Team members have:
The foundation has also raised funds to dig wells in several rural villages which bring many benefits to the people, most especially improved health. Children who no longer need to walk miles to bring home fresh water now have the time to attend school. Read the story of how one woman changed the future of an entire village here.
We were also inspired to solve two needs at one time by creating and supporting the Joseph Project – a carpentry class teaching Christian values along with a skill so men can learn a trade and support their families. To complete the course, students must create needed items for the new school such as desks, chairs, tables, and shelving units. Recently, welding was added to the curriculum. While the locations we serve and the tasks we perform change, our mission remains the same – bringing the love and hope of Jesus to a hurting world. Lives are changed – not only that of those we serve but our volunteers as well. To read more about what our team members experienced, visit here.
