Social Media Intern (Unpaid) for Christian Nonprofit

  

Position Type: Unpaid Internship offering applied experience and a resume-ready recommendation
Time Commitment: 6–10 hours per week, flexible schedule
Duration: Open-ended / Ongoing
Location: Remote 



About Us

We are a Christian, service-oriented nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the poor and marginalized, particularly on Native American reservations in the United States and in Zambia and Kenya. Our work centers on relationship-based ministry and organizing short-term mission trips that support local communities with humility, respect, and partnership. We seek to share Christ’s love through service, presence, and storytelling.



Internship Overview

The Social Media Intern will assist with managing and growing our social media presence to help share our mission, programs, and impact. This internship is designed as a learning experience and includes guidance, supervision, and regular feedback. The role is ideal for a college student interested in nonprofit work, missions, communications, or ministry.

All work will be completed remotely after an initial training meeting.



Responsibilities

● Assist with creating and scheduling content for social media platforms (such as Facebook and Instagram)

● Draft captions and posts that reflect our Christian mission, values, and tone

● Help share stories from mission trips, partner communities, volunteers, and events

● Assist with basic graphic creation using tools such as Canva or similar platforms

● Monitor engagement and notify staff of messages or comments

● Help track basic engagement metrics and participation trends

● Suggest content ideas aligned with ministry seasons, mission trips, and fundraising efforts

● Support fundraising campaigns by helping promote appeals, events, and giving opportunities through social media

● Assist with content that encourages donor engagement, gratitude, and ongoing connection to our mission



Learning Opportunities

● Experience in faith-based nonprofit communications

● Ethical storytelling in cross-cultural and mission settings

● Understanding how social media supports ministry, outreach, and donor engagement

● Working closely with nonprofit leadership and mission trip coordinators



Qualifications

● Currently enrolled college student (communications, marketing, ministry, nonprofit studies, or related fields preferred)

● Knowledgeable in social media use, including content creation

● Strong written communication skills

● Interest in Christian service, missions, and serving vulnerable communities

● Organized, dependable, and able to work independently in a remote setting

● Familiarity with Canva or similar tools is a plus, but not required
